Performance Overview

Schumann 1 Austin Chamber Center produces a full year of engaging and eclectic chamber concerts that tempt a variety of musical interests and sways. Led by Artistic Director, Dr. Michelle Schumann, programs are designed to engage beyond the concert hall and to personally interact with music loving audiences.

All concerts feature ‘live’ program notes that give you the low-down on the music, the composers, and the artists. Not only will you hear world-class interpretations of great music, you will come away with many smart quips to impress all at the next dinner party you attend!

Venues also range the gamut, from stylish private homes, to acoustically divine public halls, to unexpected club venues; ACMC appeals to the tastes of a broad range of music lovers and redefines what chamber music can be in the 21st century.

Intimate Concerts (Sept. – Mar. Season) View Season Schedule

Schumann Players 9 27 19 Intimate Concerts take place on Friday nights in a stylish home-the preferred up-close-and-personal setting for chamber music, the original party music. Each concert is followed by a scrumptious reception along with exclusive “backstage pass” accessibility to the artists. The scene is festive and fun, and the music is to die for. We’ll laugh, we’ll cry… and we’ll do it all together. Very close together.

Synchronisms (Sept. – Mar. Season) View Season Schedule

sychronism concert In synch in spirit, mind, and musical insight, Synchronisms take chamber music into a local church on Saturday nights-a venue small enough to maintain the intimate vibe, but big enough to let the sound come alive. The scene is casual, but spell-binding. Expect something divine to happen, but leave all the formality of heaven behind.

Austin Chamber Music Festival

070519 DressRehearsal ACMC 064 In the summer we heat things up with three weeks of glorious chamber music indulgence and excess! We invite the finest touring ensembles to our fair city to give us the richest experiences they can muster up. Paired together with a bevy of free concerts, Behind-the-Scenes presentations with the artists, and chamber music workshops for students of all ages, the city absolutely hums with our art form. Past artists have included the Attacca, Emerson, Miró, and St. Lawrence String Quartets; the Vienna Piano Trio; the Bad Plus; Beaux Arts Trio; and the Eroica Piano Trio.

Annual Events and Celebrations

Charlie Brown Trio with Audience There is a lot to celebrate in chamber music! In December we celebrate the holiday season with A Charlie Brown Christmas, featuring all the music from this classic TV special performed live. Our annual Donor’s Appreciation party for the master of poise, Ludwig van Beethoven, follows later in December. At the end of our regular concert season we celebrate all things ACMC at our annual Gala, The Blue Bash.
