Overview of ACMC Internships
In keeping with our mission to educate the next generation of music enthusiasts, the Austin Chamber Music Center is proud to offer internship opportunities for college-age students looking to gain hands-on experience in their chosen field. In most cases, college credit is available.
Start and end dates will depend on the internship you are applying for.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for an internship without regard to race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status, citizenship, or any other protected status.
Education Internships – Fall & Spring

Come be a part of the ACMC education team during the school year! As an education intern you will work directly with the Director of Education to organize multiple education programs and events, including the nationwide Coltman Competition. You may assist with placement auditions, grouping and music selection process, preparing of schedules and materials for students and faculty, office administrative tasks, concert event planning, and help at 1-2 Season Concerts.
The internship will go through late December for the fall semester and through the middle of May for the spring semester, with the possibility of continuing into the following semester or into the summer. Ideal intern will and average of 5-10 hours a week. Flexible scheduling and monthly stipend of $150. Internship duties will be completed both in-person and remotely. The intern will meet with the Director of Education on a weekly basis and receive routine feedback, training on relevant platforms, and performance evaluation.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and organized, reliable and dependable, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and be able to attend all semester education concert dates. Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and MuseScore preferred. Must have reliable transportation and be able to lift up to 20 pounds comfortably. Undergraduate, masters and doctoral students within the music performance, music education and arts administration fields are encouraged to apply.

Marketing Internships – Fall & Spring

We are seeking an intern to help with marketing and social media during our concert season. Duties include contributing to social media pages, posting calendar listings, and organizing press articles, with other duties to be assigned as needed. Ideal intern will work 3 to 8 hours a week. The internship will go through late December for the fall semester and through the end of May for the spring semester, with the possibility of continuing into the following semester or into the summer. Flexible scheduling and monthly stipend of $100. Most internship duties will be completed remotely with occasional in-person meetings and events. The intern will meet with ACMC staff supervisor(s) on a weekly basis and receive routine feedback, training on relevant software and platforms, and performance evaluation. The intern will learn about the organization and its brand, and learn to create social media content in the organizational voice. Tasks will be supervised as needed, but many tasks will be performed independently and then reviewed by a supervisor.
Must be available for a majority of ACMC concerts. Experience with all social media platforms and arts experience is preferred. Potential candidates should be excited about the organization and be independent, organized workers.

Education Internships – Summer Workshop

We are looking for 1-2 full time (May to July) and 2-3 part time (July only) interns to assist the Director of Education in organizing and running the Summer Workshop. You may assist with placement auditions, grouping and music selection process, preparing of schedules and materials, office administrative tasks, performances and student activities, setting up and tearing down rooms and performance spaces, and be on-site to see first hand how the action unfolds from beginning to end. Potential candidates should be detail-oriented, reliable and dependable, comfortable working in a fast paced environment, able to work comfortably independently as well as part of a team, and excited to work with youth (ages 7-18). Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and MuseScore preferred. Must have reliable transportation, be able to lift up to 20 pounds comfortably, and be able to attend all Workshop dates in July.
Since the Workshop takes place on the UT Austin campus, all interns will be required to pass a background check and complete the Youth Protection Program training. Undergraduate, masters and doctoral students within the music performance, music education and arts administration fields are encouraged to apply. Marketing / Operations Internships – Summer Festival

We are looking for 1-2 interns to help ACMC staff manage box office operations and implement social media and marketing strategies. You’ll gain experience in content distribution, sales strategies, social media management, customer service, and ticketing operations. Potential candidates should be comfortable working directly with customers, detail-oriented, and able to work on projects with little supervision. Previous experience with design tools such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Affinity, and/or Canva and video editing tools such as iMovie preferred but not required. Must have reliable transportation and be available to attend ACMC summer events.
Interns will meet with ACMC staff supervisor(s) on a weekly basis and receive routine feedback, training on relevant software and platforms, and performance evaluation. Interns will learn about the organization and its brand. Tasks will be supervised as needed, but many tasks will be performed independently and then reviewed by a supervisor. Weekly time commitment will average between 5 and 12 hours, with some meetings and tasks completely remotely. If you have specific learning goals in mind we will work with you to help you achieve those goals. This internship would start in May and run through August, with a monthly stipend of $100/month.
