In-School Coaching Program
ACMC has established sustainable and valuable collaborations with several Austin and surrounding area schools, including Title 1 schools, reaching over 150 students each semester. These collaborations focus on supporting middle and high school orchestra and band programs by teaching the intricacies of musical communication and expression within small ensembles.
Benefits of having a chamber music program at your school
Students will…
-Become leaders within their band or orchestra
-Work with local leading professional musicians on a weekly basis
-Expand your listening skills by playing a single part in a small ensemble, as opposed to a band or orchestra where multiple people share one part
-Play new and challenging music outside of their band or orchestra class
-Grow into confident players, strong communicators, and well-rounded musicians
-Build on real world skills such as active listening, teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking
-Develop a deeper sense of pitch, rhythm, and tone
-Apply chamber music skills to solo, band or orchestra experiences
-Perform on an ACMC collaborative chamber music concert
Music teachers will…
-Be 100% supported by ACMC
-Identify and nurture leaders within their program
-Provide extra ensemble and performance opportunities for eager students
-Notice students gaining confidence and becoming active leaders within their sections
-See their band or orchestra program strengthen and grow excitement
