Yunzhi Guan

Dr. Guan holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance from the New England Conservatory, and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. A native of China, Dr. Guan started playing the piano at age five, and has studied in the United States since age sixteen. She graduated with honors from Walnut Hill High School of the Arts, while also studying at the NEC Preparatory School from 2010 to 2012. In 2018, Guan enrolled in the Doctor of Musical Arts program at the University of Texas at Austin with a merit scholarship, studying with Gregory Allen. Dr. Guan has performed at Lincoln Center in New York, Shenzhen Concert Hall in China as well as the Jordan Hall and Williams Hall in Boston. Many of her concerts had been reported by local news, and most of her performances earned praise from local music critics and music experts. Now a highly regarded teacher herself, Dr. Guan currently maintains a private studio in Austin, with students ranging from six years old to adults. She also serves as the piano faculty at Huston-Tillotson University. Yunzhi’s principal teachers were Yafei Chuang at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts, and Victor Rosenbaum at the New England Conservatory.
