Kevin Kwan Loucks

Pianist Kevin Kwan Loucks enjoys a multifaceted career as an international concert artist, educator, and arts leader. He has been described as “impeccable” (La Presse, Montreal), “a shining talent” (Völser Zeitung, Italy), and “a pianist of exhilarating polish, unity, and engagement” (The Orange County Register). He has appeared in major venues including Weill Recital Hall and Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Kennedy Center, Seoul Arts Center, Kumho Art Hall, Herbst Theatre, Prague’s Liechtenstein Palace, and Prösels Castle in Italy.

Loucks has been featured on National Public Radio, CBC Radio 2, Classical KUSC, PBS, KABC-TV Los Angeles, and the Korean Broadcasting System. His collaborations include performances with Rachel Barton Pine, Colin Carr, Paul Coletti, Robert deMaine, Glenn Dicterow, Karen Dreyfus, Eugene Drucker, Edgar Meyer, Johannes Moser, Kyung Sun Lee, and Carol Wincenc, as well as the Afiara, Alexander, Argus, Arneis, Cecilia, Jupiter, Lyris, Rus, and Thalea String Quartets.

At the core of his performance career is Trio Céleste, which he co-founded in 2012 with violinist Iryna Krechkovsky and cellist Ross Gasworth. Hailed by The Strad as “unfailingly stylish,” the ensemble has served as Ensemble-in-Residence at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UC Irvine and Chamber Music | OC, directing the annual Trio Céleste Summer Chamber Music Festival. He has also performed and recorded as a member of Gruppo Montebello, an all-star ensemble of Banff Centre resident artists.

A Korean-American adoptee and graduate of The Juilliard School, Loucks studied with Julian Martin and is an alumnus of the Aspen Music Festival and Music@Menlo. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from Stony Brook University, where he served as Head of Piano for the Pre-College Division and Teaching Assistant for the Emerson String Quartet.

Beyond the concert stage, Loucks is a recognized arts entrepreneur and cultural leader, named one of Southern California’s most influential people by the Orange County Business Journal and OC Weekly. He holds an Executive MBA from Chapman University’s Argyros School of Business and completed Executive Education at Stanford Graduate School of Business. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Chamber Music America and is based in New York City.
