Hilary Janysek

Dr. Hilary Janysek is an active flutist and educator specializing in entrepreneurship, chamber music, and positive psychology. She performs regularly throughout central Texas with the Victoria Bach Festival Orchestra, the Temple Symphony Orchestra, the Austin Flute Choir, and the Brazos Breeze Flute Choir. She has also been featured as a soloist with the Ball State Symphony Orchestra, the Texas State University Orchestra, America’s Hometown Band, and the Victoria Bach Festival. As an active chamber musician and clinician, Dr. Janysek has collaboratively performed and presented at events such as the College Music Society Conference, the National Flute Association Convention, the Texas Flute Society Festival, and the Texas Music Educators Association Convention.  Dr. Janysek currently serves as a board member with the Austin Flute Society and the Chair of the National Flute Association’s Flute Clubs Committee.

An enthusiastic educator, Dr. Janysek currently serves as the Instructor of Flute at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and the Instructor of Music and Applied Flute at Southwestern University. She has built a successful private studio of over 30 students based in the Austin area. Her students have advanced to region, area, and state band competitions and have placed in local and national Young Artist Competitions.

Dr. Janysek holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Texas State University, a Master of Music Degree in Flute Performance from Ball State University (BSU), an Entrepreneurial Music Certificate from BSU, and a Doctor of Arts Degree in Flute Performance from BSU. Her primary teachers were Dr. Adah Jones and Dr. Mihoko Watanabe.
