Daniel Chrisman

Daniel Chrisman brought his bassoons to Austin in 2007 to make his fortune as the contrabassoonist of the Austin Symphony. He has delighted in making music with fabulous orchestras and chamber music ensembles in Texas ever since. Chrisman holds positions playing the bassoon and contrabassoon in the Austin Symphony and the Austin Opera orchestras, as well as in the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra. He’s the adjunct professor of bassoon at Southwestern University and is a private lesson instructor on staff in several area school districts. His primary instructors were Peter Simpson at the University of Kentucky, Matthew Karr at the University of Louisville and Danny Matsukawa at Temple University. When not playing his bassoons, Daniel loves working out, spending time with family, and sneaking around the kitchen for delicious midnight snacks.
