Charlotte Howenstein is a teacher, accompanist, composer and organist. Completing a Master of Music in composition at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music in piano performance and composition at Kansas State University, Charlotte also has registered Suzuki piano and Music Mind Games training. The philosophy “every child can” resonates in her teaching approach with discovery based learning, challenge and nurture. This kind of learning promotes enthusiasm, motivation and aims to instill a love of learning.
As an active member of the National Federation of Music Clubs and the American College of Musicians (Piano Guild), Charlotte’s students prepare and perform memorized programs for adjudicated solo and duet performance and theory events. She maintains a full schedule as an accompanist for solo vocal and instrumentalists, choral groups and musicals. As an active composer and arranger, Charlotte’s work has been commissioned and performed by the Arbor Ensemble of Madison, WI, the Acting Studio of Dallas, TX, various video game projects, the 2010 Society of Composers, Inc. Region VI Conference, the 2009 and 2010 graduate brass quintets of the College Conservatory of Music, and at the 2008 Composer’s Symposium in Des Moines, IA.
