In keeping with our mission to educate the next generation of music enthusiasts, the Austin Chamber Music Center is proud to offer internship opportunities for college-age students looking to gain hands-on experience in their chosen field.

Fall 2011

At this time, ACMC does not have funding to support paid internship positions. In most cases, college credit is available.

Development & Special Events

A perfect internship for those interested in exploring the different areas associated with arts management (fundraising, donor relations, and special events). Responsibilities include donor database management, assisting with planning and executing special events (Intimate Concerts, the Happy Birthday Mr. Cage Concert, and preparation for Beethoven’s Birthday Party), board meeting preparation, volunteer management, and some writing and editing.

With the development & special events associate, you will develop a list of learning objectives and goals that you would like to accomplish correlating to your responsibilities.

Marketing / Public Relations / Operations

Works closely with Director of Operations and marketing/development committee to develop and implement marketing and pr strategies for our season, festival, education, and outreach programs. You’ll also gain experience in administration and operations. This position is great for anyone interested in studying or gaining experience in any of these areas.

  • writing and editing news releases
  • editing print materials
  • organizing content for quarterly newsletter
  • creating and distributing concert fliers
  • implementing strategies to increase ticket sales
  • conducting focus groups* ticket processing
  • office calendar management
  • data processing
  • creating and mailing correspondence

Arts Education

Assist the Director of Education in organizing logistics for the school-year Austin Chamber Music Academy and summer Austin Chamber Music Workshop. Attend auditions, observe the grouping process, assist with selecting music, and be on-site to see first hand how the action unfolds.
Assist the Director of Education with the day-to-day management of our sheet music, recordings, and performance library.
