The Soha Quartet was formed in 2024 at the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin and has since won first prize at the 2025 Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition and second prize and audience prize at the 2026 Saint Paul String Quartet Competition. They were also finalists in the 2026 Coltman Chamber Music Competition and participants in the 2026 Fischoff National Chamber Competition and 2025 Plowman Chamber Music Competition. In 2025, the Soha Quartet performed at the Chamber Music America National Conference held at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. This past February, Soha opened for the Balourdet Quartet at the KMFA Draylen Mason Music Studio as part of Austin Chamber Music Center’s concert series.
Starting fall of 2026, the Soha Quartet will also serve as the Young Professional String Quartet in Residence at the Butler School of Music, studying under the Miró Quartet. Currently under the direction of Joshua Gindele and Sandy Yamamoto, the Soha Quartet has performed in masterclasses with Norman Fischer, Matt Zalkind, the Isidore String Quartet, the Balourdet Quartet, ArcoStrum, and Annie Jacobs-Perkins.
Highlights of Soha’s 2025-2026 season include: a collaboration with the University of Texas dance department for their EQUINOX show; performances at the Juilliard String Quartet Seminar, McGill International String Quartet Academy, and Austin Chamber Music Center’s Chamber Music Intensive Showcase; and a collaboration with Zlatomir Fung for the Austin Chamber Music Festival.
Committed to community engagement and education, the Soha Quartet has served as Butler School of Music Community Representatives for the Austin Chamber Music Center since spring 2025. In this role, they perform recitals throughout the Austin area and lead coaching sessions and masterclasses for public school students.
