Mela Sarajane Dailey is a storyteller in multiple mediums, drawn to the complexity of the human experience and driven by a singular mission: to tell honest stories, inhabit complicated characters, and create work that moves people and makes us feel a little less alone.
A Grammy Award-winning soprano and ten-time Grammy nominee, Dailey’s expansive career spans opera, musical theatre, oratorio, jazz, gospel, film, television, radio, and visual media. She received a Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance for Conspirare’s The Sacred Spirit of Russia and has performed at Carnegie Hall and Boston Symphony Hall, with leading orchestras and opera companies throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, and alongside Michael Bublé and Sarah Brightman. Most recently, she performed opposite Steven Skybell in Austin Opera’s Fiddler on the Roof.
Dailey is the creator and host of ICONS of Broadway on KMFA, celebrating the artists and stories behind musical theatre. Her screen work includes featured vocal performances in film soundtracks, including The Vessel, starring Martin Sheen.
Beyond performing, Dailey is the founder and CEO of American Artists Project, a national nonprofit expanding equitable access to the arts and removing barriers for under-resourced artists.
Whether onstage, onscreen, behind a microphone, or building opportunities for others, Dailey believes storytelling creates space for complicated truths, unexpected connection, and the transformative power of being fully seen and heard.
