Young Artists Division program runs from JULY 8 – 20, 2019
The Young Artists Division is a day workshop. Open to musicians ages 11 – 18 with intermediate to advanced proficiency. Students will work with amazing faculty who will instill musicianship, improve listening and verbal skills, spark leadership and boost confidence. The young artists will also receive masterclasses, small ensemble coaching sessions, performance opportunities, and presentations from guest artists from around the world.
NOTE TO PARENTS BEFORE ENROLLING:
ALL Young Artists Division students are REQUIRED to attend ALL days of the workshop to participate, including the final concerts on Saturday, July 20. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Most instruments are accepted and welcome in the program (string, woodwind, brass, guitar, piano, harp); however for younger students, we do ask that students have a minimum of one year of private instruction and be able to read music before enrolling. If you have any questions about this please contact Jeni Gossard, Director of Education, before enrolling.

Parents will receive UT parking options and student drop off & pick up instructions prior to the start of the workshop.
- Chamber music coaching (all students will be placed in 2 different chamber ensembles)
- Music Electives: Composition, creative & jazz improvisation, percussion ensemble
- Masterclasses & daily presentations by Festival artists-in-residence and workshop faculty
- FREE admission to select Festival Concerts
- Final Concerts – Saturday, July 20 at 1:00pm & 3:30pm
- ALL students will perform on BOTH chamber music concerts
- Keep your schedules open from 12:00pm – 6:00pm this afternoon
- Concerts will take place in Bates Recital Hall

Festival Concert with invoke with Young Artists – Saturday, July 13 at 7:30pm
- Select Young Artists Division students will be asked to perform on this Festival concert with invoke
Placement auditions are for chamber ensemble placement only. Once the online registration and tuition is taken care of students have secured their place in the workshop. In order to place students into the right ensembles we need to meet and hear them! Any questions regarding whether your child is ready for chamber music contact the Director of Education BEFORE registering.

Armstrong Community Music School, 404 Camp Craft Road
Students will be asked to prepare 2 contrasting solos/etudes of their choice (1 slow and musical / 1 faster and technical). Portions of piece, movement or etude are fine. Both selections should be approximately 1 minute in length. Students may be asked to do sight-reading at their audition.
My child plays two instruments…
Students may audition on 2 instruments (they are placed in 2 chamber ensembles during the workshop) as long as they have been playing for at least one year on both instruments. Students will be required to prepare audition materials on both instruments. When registering put down both instruments and other information that is asked.
Young Artists Division Fees
|Non-refundable deposit ($600 balance due June 17)||$350|
Parents should either pay the deposit OR full tuition, NOT both, when registering! Your workshop tuition balance will be due June 17, 2019.
No tuition refunds will be given after June 17, 2019. Deposits are non-refundable and can not be credited to any other ACMC program.
