Program & Events Manager

About the Position

The Program & Events Manager is a full-time position that reports directly to the Executive Director, working closely with the Director of Education, Artistic Director, and Marketing & Communications Manager. The position is primarily responsible for managing all logistics related to the production and support of ACMC’s performance, educational, and outreach programs.

Primary responsibilities include (but not listed in order of priority):


  • Managing logistics and stage management for ACMC’s season and festival concerts, plus special events: working with artists, artist management, and venues to ensure that all technical and logistical concerns are met
  • Managing logistics for the Coltman Competition and Summer Workshop as well as other education events including student concerts, masterclasses, and auditions
  • Scheduling and providing logistics for outreach concerts in schools, retirement homes, and community centers
  • Coordinating with preferred contractors for the recording and live-streaming of select concerts
  • Managing a cohort of regular volunteers for select events


  • Assisting in developing artists’ schedules and itineraries
  • Supporting education programs in regards to enrollment, scheduling, placement auditions, communications, and program planning
  • Assisting with music choices and distribution for educational programs
  • Helping to maintain the music library and video/audio archives
  • Arranging and transposing music as needed
  • Helping to develop and administer program surveys and evaluations
  • Completing and managing all event reporting including maintenance of the annual performance report spreadsheet
  • Participating in marketing and social media initiatives which support all programs
  • Assisting with general administrative and office duties as needed including box office support, website maintenance, and donation processing


The successful candidate will demonstrate most or all of the following qualifications:

  • A passion for ACMC’s mission: “Austin Chamber Music Center creates chamber music experiences that connect, educate, and inspire our community.”
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, in music preferred
  • Experience in the performing arts required
  • Knowledge of event production preferred
  • Commitment to a collaborative, generous, team-oriented attitude that contributes to a positive organizational culture
  • Organized and thorough work style with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with efficiency and attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management
  • Strong skills with musical notation software preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) speaker a plus

Salary & Benefits

The salary for this position will begin at $40,000 and includes the following benefits:

  • Health/dental/vision insurance benefits fully covered
  • Participation in a SIMPLE IRA program with a 3% employer match
  • Six weeks of paid time off: Three weeks of flexible paid time off plus three weeks of institutional paid time off when the office is closed (Thanksgiving week, post-Festival/Workshop, winter holiday)
  • Closed on Federal holidays: MLK Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day
  • Limited remote working available with supervisor approval
