Anne Marie has worked in the finance and service industries, including nonprofits, for all of her professional life. She earned her bachelors degree in Professional Accountancy from the University of Southern Mississippi and later became a CPA while working in New Orleans, Louisiana. After moving to Austin she became a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) while working as an IS auditor for the state. Here she supervised and performed IS, compliance, and financial audits at state universities and agencies.
While continuing to work as an auditor, Anne Marie decided to pursue her interest in holistic health. She became a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) and Massage Therapy Instructor (MTI) and taught at the Lauterstein-Conway Massage School and Clinic. She continues to study the body, mind, soul and spirit connection and works independently as a bodyworker specializing in integrative massage and craniosacral therapy.
Her interest in music began at a young age, learning from her grandfather who played several string instruments. She started taking piano lessons at age 7 and began playing organ in church at age 12. Although she never aspired to be a performer, she feels it is her calling to be an accompanist and play for church congregations. She is on staff at St. Theresa Catholic Church where she plays for children, youth and adult choirs. She has participated in the ACMC Adult Academy and the Adult Division of the Summer Workshop where she has enjoyed making friends with other musicians and playing chamber music.
Today Anne Marie continues to work as an accountant, bodyworker, and musician. She is grateful for the endless opportunities for learning that these professions provide. In addition to work and ongoing studies, she loves yoga and gardening.
