Welcome to the Season!

Welcome to the 2010-2011 Season of the Austin Chamber Music Center! Just when I think we’ve reached a peak, things just seem to get better and better! The 2010 Festival was a ridiculous success and we are excited to embark on another season of musical exploration that digs deep into hearts and souls throughout Austin.
This year we pull together new forces as well as familiar friends. The Carpe Diem String Quartet joins me on three programs where we will delve into amazing chamber works by Beethoven, Borodin, Franck, Shostakovich, Elgar, Schubert, and many others. This year, I am also super pleased to present Hanan Alattar, soprano from the English National Opera and L.A. Opera. Her voice will, quite literally, blow you away, and we will have an amazing time celebrating all the big birthdays of Robert Schumann, Samuel Barber, and Hugo Wolf, in addition to the 50th birthday of one of the greatest composers of our time, Osvaldo Golijov.
Other friends join us throughout the season as we present the Texas Guitar Quartet celebrating Hispanic Heritage, Line Upon Line Percussion in our annual homage to John Cage, Graeme Francis and his exquisite stylings of Bach and the Minimalists on marimba and the vibes, and our annual Duke Ellington sha-bang as part of Black History Month.
As always, there are just great things going on and with the huge variety, you can take in everything and satisfy all you musical desires. What more could you ask for?
See you soon… and often!!!
