Thomas Bandar

Violist Thomas Bandar is highly regarded both as a performer and educator. Mr. Bandar has spent the last four years performing with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra, and has previously performed with the Toledo Symphony, Cleveland Opera, and the Aspen Chamber Symphony. An active chamber musician, Mr. Bandar has appeared on the Heifetz Celebrity Concert Series in New Hampshire and has collaborated with the Brentano String Quartet. He is also a regular presenter on the “Music in Millwood” recital series in Millwood, Washington. Known as an inspiring and versatile teacher, Mr. Bandar recently presented a masterclass at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He has also been a guest at Gonzaga, Whitworth, and Eastern Washington Universities and has taught viola and chamber music at California Summer Music. In 2006, Mr. Bandar founded a summer chamber music program for “Youth Music Monterey” in Monterey, California. Mr. Bandar holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the University of Denver. His principal teachers and mentors have been Jeffrey Irvine, Lynne Ramsey, and Basil Vendryes.
