Over the past 27 years, Sheryl Stack has built a successful music career in and around Austin as pianist, teacher, choir director, organist, and coach/accompanist. Known for her broad range of skills, her quality work, and her naturally optimistic attitude, she is regularly in demand for a great variety of musical activities.

Ms. Stack holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Wichita State University (KS) in piano performance (1985) and two Master of Music degrees from The University of Texas at Austin, in applied piano (1988) and collaborative piano (2011, The Butler School of Music at UT).

Ms. Stack is currently organist at both Westlake United Methodist Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A member of the Executive Board of the Austin Chapter of the American Guild of Organists—Director of Membership—she also teaches Introduction to the Pipe Organ classes. She will be touring Italy June 2013 with the WUMC Choir, and will be playing organ in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome as well as in other cathedrals and churches in Assisi and Florence.

In 2012, she joined the Austin Chamber Music Center faculty, as Coordinator of the ACMC Summer Workshop: Primary Division. She returns in the same capacity in 2013, after coaching Adult Academy chamber ensembles as well throughout the year. Prior to her involvement with ACMC, Ms. Stack served as the staff accompanist at Luzerne Music Center in the Adirondack Mountains of New York for eight weeks in the summer of 2011.

In addition to her church work and chamber music coaching with ACMC, Ms. Stack works as coach/accompanist to vocalists and instrumentalists of all ages and stages, works steadily as a freelance pianist and organist, and maintains a private teaching studio. She lives in Austin with her teenage daughter, Margaux, also a talented musician.
