Raul Escobedo is originally from Houston, TX where he attended Cypress Falls High School. While in Houston, he was a two-year member of the Texas All-State Band. Upon leaving Houston, Escobedo attended and graduated from the University of North Texas with a baccalaureate degree in music education. At North Texas, he studied with Donald Little, Ryan Robinson, and Dr. Brian Bowman. He was a consistent member of the UNT tuba euphonium ensemble group. He taught private tuba and euphonium lessons and was a marching band technician at various public schools around the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, including teching for the UNT Green Brigade Marching Band.
During his undergraduate degree at North Texas, Raul Escobedo performed with the UNT Symphonic Band under the direction of Dennis Fisher, as well as the Lone Star Wind Orchestra directed by Eugene Corporon. In 2009, Escobedo was selected to perform in New York City with the Distinguished Concerts International – New York Ensemble. In 2010, the graduate tuba/euphonium ensemble at North Texas in which Escobedo was a member was asked to perform at the International Tuba/Euphonium Conference in Tucson, AZ.
Raul received his masters degree in music performance at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL where he is studied under Rex Martin. Escobedo has had the opportunity to perform with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Mallory Thompson and with the Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Victor Yampolsky. He was also selected to direct the Northwestern University basketball band. Raul Escobedo is associated with the International Tuba Euphonium Association and Mu Phi Epsilon, and continues to perform and teach in and around Austin, TX.
