Paula Wong earned a Masters degree in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003, where she studied with Dr. Betty Mallard. As an undergraduate, Paula studied with Professor JoAnn Baker at the Conservatory of Music, University of Missouri at Kansas City on a merit scholarship.
Before circling back to formal music study, Paula earned a law degree from the Baylor University School of Law (1988), and practiced law in Dallas and in Austin for ten years. While practicing law in 1999 she entered the inaugural Van Cliburn Competition for Outstanding Amateurs. Shortly therafter, she enrolled in the Master’s Degree program at the University of Texas in 1999. While completing her Master’s degree, Paula founded her West Austin studio in 2000. Since then her studio has grown to include four additional teachers, and nearly 100 students of all ages and experience levels.
Paula is married to the Honorable Todd T. Wong, Judge of Travis County Court at Law No. 1. They have two grown children, Brennan, a Teach-for-America alumni and current math teacher, and Matthew, a recent Business Administration graduate from the University of Wisconsin.
