The Minor 4th Trombone Quartet is a chamber ensemble praised for its high level of musicianship and technical ability. The M4TQ formed in 2005; its members are all graduates of the The University of Texas at Austin’s Butler School of Music, and now serve on the faculties of four Texas universities.
The Minor 4th Trombone Quartet maintains an active performance schedule. They have performed on concert series in addition to several university residencies including the University of Georgia, Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia Tech University along with several universities in Texas. In 2013, the ensemble performed at the 2013 International Trombone Festival and Eastern Trombone Workshop in addition to giving their concerto debut with the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra. They have also appeared at the the 2011 Big 12 Trombone Conference and frequently perform at the Texas Music Educators Association’s Convention. Devoted to education, the M4TQ has given clinics at the Texas Bandmasters Association’s Convention and it’s members have selected the All-State band etudes on numerous occasions. The ensemble also continues to engage in the public schools through their outreach programs.
While a Minor 4th may not theoretically exist, we do, as four minorities who over come all odds and obstacles with the ultimate goal of helping pave the way for the next generation.
