line upon line percussion
Formed in 2009 at the University of Texas at Austin, line upon line percussion has set out to expand their repertoire through the commission of new works. The group’s first disc, released in August 2011, contains four pieces written for the trio by Austin composers. In 2011, the trio was nominated for an Austin Critics’ Table Award for Best Classical Ensemble. October 2011 will bring the premiere of their project with architects Emily Little and Norma Yancey, seeing times are not hidden, a site-specific work for three performers and custom chimes. line upon line percussion maintains educational and outreach roles with the Austin Chamber Music Center and has performed at various academic institutions around the country. The group has also performed at the Long Center, the Blanton Museum of Art, Fast Forward Austin and the International Festival-Institute at Round Top. line upon line percussion is Adam Bedell, Cullen Faulk and Matthew Teodori.
Adam Bedell…
is a current Instructor of Percussion at Texas Lutheran University. He has performed with the Austin, Midland, Mid-Texas, Round Rock, Saginaw, Traverse City and Westshore Symphonies. Adam can be heard on the Harmonia Mundi label with Grammy-nominated Conspirare on “A Company of Voices,” the concert of which aired nationally on PBS. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and a Master’s degree from UT Austin having studied with Thomas Burritt, Tony Edwards, Jason Lewis and Andrew Spencer. Adam plays mbira in his free time.
Cullen Faulk…
grew up in Victoria, TX where he played various instruments in many rock, pop, jazz, and chamber groups throughout his youth. He has performed at PASIC (2004) and the BOA National Concert Band and Percussion Festival (2003) as part of the Victoria-Memorial High School Percussion Ensemble led by Phillip Mikula. He is a professional student (a la Van Wilder) in his spare time under the patient and invaluable tutelage of Dr. Thomas Burritt and Tony Edwards. Cullen teaches and assists at various middle and high schools around the Austin and South Texas areas. He enjoys pretending to shred on his guitar during his free time.
Matthew Teodori…
is the Adjunct Professor of Percussion at Huston-Tillotson University. He has performed with the Austin, Mid-Texas and Southern Tier Symphonies as well as the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Matthew received his Bachelor’s degree from Houghton College and his Master’s from UT Austin having studied with Thomas Burritt, Tony Edwards, Chip Ross and Jim Tiller. He is currently completing his DMA at UT Austin. Matthew tries to keep up with any and all sports.
