Jonathan Carbin is an adventurous musician and a dedicated and experienced teacher. He grew up in Oklahoma, and began playing cello there at the age of nine. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Music degree in performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, and will graduate with a master’s degree in performance from UT in May 2012. Jonathan studies with Joshua Gindele of the MirĂ³ Quartet, and his former teachers include Carter Enyeart, Greg Sauer, and Dolly McRae.
Jonathan is a versatile performer who is always looking to try new things. He is enthusiastic about performing the works of living composers, and has recently been featured as a soloist and chamber musician at numerous contemporary music festivals and conferences across the country. Some of Jonathan’s other recent projects include playing with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, performing and composing for Kansas City-based performance ensemble Quixotic Fusion, and joining the cello section of the Round Rock Symphony Orchestra.
