Jonathan Carbin

Jonathan Carbin is an adventurous musician and a dedicated and experienced teacher. He grew up in Oklahoma, and began playing cello there at the age of nine. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Music degree in performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, and will graduate with a master’s degree in performance from UT in May 2012. Jonathan studies with Joshua Gindele of the Miró Quartet, and his former teachers include Carter Enyeart, Greg Sauer, and Dolly McRae.
Jonathan is a versatile performer who is always looking to try new things. He is enthusiastic about performing the works of living composers, and has recently been featured as a soloist and chamber musician at numerous contemporary music festivals and conferences across the country. Some of Jonathan’s other recent projects include playing with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, performing and composing for Kansas City-based performance ensemble Quixotic Fusion, and joining the cello section of the Round Rock Symphony Orchestra.
