Daniel Dufour, raised in Willis, Texas, is a freelance percussionist whose influences cover many genres of music. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Percussion Performance at Sam Houston State University, Daniel moved to Austin, Texas where he received his Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. While living in Austin, Daniel has had the opportunity to play with many great musicians including Pete Rodriquez, Mitch Watkins, Suzi Stern, Andre Hayward, Louis Gasca, Ephraim Owens, Elias Haslinger, Red Young, Peggy Stern, Luis Perdomo, Roberto Quintero, Maria Schneider, and Joshua Redman. Daniel has also joined the team at Rattletree Marimba, under the direction of Joel Laviolette, where they play and adhere to the songs of Zimbabwe on hand crafted marimbas. His teachers include Jeff Hellmer, Wayne Salzmann ii, John Mills, John Fremgen, Aric Schneller, and John Lane.
