Cindy studied with Menahem Pressler at Indian University in Bloomington where she graduated with a bachelor of Music (piano performance) in December of 1989 (with a double major in Photography). She later attended New York University, majoring in Clinical Psychology and getting a Master’s degree. Cindy then started working at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital with schizophrenic patients and at Beth Israel Hospital doing therapy with patients who were diagnosed with depression.
However, she missed being in the arts and was accepted into the MFA program at the school of Visual Arts. Afterwards, she worked mainly in advertising (doing mainly lifestyle campaigns), and later really enjoyed doing high end black and white portrait work. She received a grant to photograph Multicultural Jews in San Francisco, while living in NYC, so moved there and worked for two years on this project. She had a few group shows and looks forward to continuing this project further!
She then moved to Austin where has worked as a part-time photographer, full time mother, and served on various boards including the Austin Museum of Art, the Women’s division of the Long Center, and the Cabinet Board at the Jewish Federation.
Cindy continues to play the piano, and music continues to be her biggest passion!
