After earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English at Oklahoma State University, Catherine moved to Texas in 1973 to earn a PhD in Medieval English Literature at Rice University. She and David were married in 1974, and Austin has been her home since 1975. They currently share their household with four cats, numerous tropical fish and eleven koi.

Her professional life includes seven years as an instructor of English at Texas State University (1976-1983) and 24+ years at the IBM Corporation as a technical writer, a Project Planner, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) and IBM-certified Project Manager. She retired from IBM in May, 2009.

Music and the arts have always been among her passions. She was introduced to opera by Gina and Walter Ducloux in the mid 1980’s and was a founding supporter of the Austin Lyric Opera. She is an emeritus member of the ALO Board of Trustees and a Past President of the ALO Guild. In addition to serving currently on the Board of Trustees for the Austin Chamber Music Center, she is also a member the Board of Directors of Austin Shakespeare and of Conspirare.

Since her retirement from IBM, she has added running to her list of passions and is currently training for her sixth Marathon on February 12, 2012.
