Ann Kjerulf Knien

Flutist Ann Kjerulf Knien was born in Stockton, California. She holds a M.M. from Boston Conservatory under the instruction of Doriot Anthony Dwyer, the first woman principal of a major U.S. symphony. She has also studied under Felix Skowronek at the University of Washington in Seattle where she earned a B.A./B.M. in Flute Performance as well as a B.S. in Speech & Hearing Sciences. In 1999, Ms. Kjerulf Knien studied with Lirio Jose Palomar Faubel at El Conservatorio de Granada, Spain. Ms. Kjerulf Knien currently runs a private studio in Austin, has been the Austin Flute Club President from 2008-2010, coaches adult chamber groups and does school outreach through ACMC, and is a freelance performer. She enjoys delving into the flute and organ repertoire and performing recitals with her husband, Storm Knien.
