Allison Sargent was born into a musical family and began her formal training at age 6. She studied violin at Northern Arizona University where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Performance. Over the past twenty years Allison has been involved in a number of orchestral programs. She has earned the position of Concertmaster in the Northern Arizona University Symphonic Orchestra, Tucson Foothills Philharmonic, Canyon Del Oro Orchestra, and in numerous summer institutes across the United States. She has also played as a section violinist for the Round Rock Symphony, Flagstaff Symphony, and Northern Arizona University Chamber Groups.
Dr. Louise Scott trained and mentored Allison for her Suzuki Violin Teacher Training Registration Books 1-4+. In 2009 Allison relocated from Arizona to Texas and enjoys teaching a studio of 40+ students starting at ages as young as 3. She encourages and motivates her students to learn in a fun and lighthearted way. Each week she teaches lessons from her home studio, at Blackerby Violin Shop and Sam Bass Music. Allison teaches with the Austin Suzuki Academy and helps run the Blazing Bows fiddle camp each year. She is the director and founder of the Basics and Beyond Fiddle camp and an editor of the published book Fiddling: the basics and beyond. Allison’s students enjoy private lessons, group lessons, recitals and community performances throughout the year. Allison performs regularly with her wedding and events quartet and has a lot of love for playing in small chamber groups.
