Outreach
Community outreach concerts have taken place since 1981 and have grown to include a four-concert East Austin series, annual concerts for Hispanic Heritage Month and Black History Month, concerts for community events, retirement centers, Title 1 schools, the Texas School for the Blind, and at the Austin State School. The outreach concerts series has expanded regularly throughout the history of ACMC and now offers over 100 free concerts every year throughout Austin.
East Austin Outreach Series
ACMC presents free chamber ensemble appearances at four east-side churches during the season. String and piano ensembles provide music for church services to attentive audiences producing the intimate and interactive experience for which chamber music is known. Current venues include St. James Episcopal Church, El Buen Pastor Presbyterian Church, and St. Julia’s Catholic Church.
Golden Connections Concert Series
2011 marks the beginning of a new series of professional concerts targeted to audiences in retirement communities and nursing homes. Generously funded by the Isla Turner Foundation, the concerts with feature ACMC touring chamber groups as well as local professional artists in ten concert programs throughout Austin.
School Outreach Concerts More Info
ACMC provides over 70 concerts per year throughout the city of Austin. Groups of all configurations and instrumentation target primarily Title I schools, reaching over 3000 students per season from ages 5 through 18.
