For over 20 years the Vienna Piano Trio has performed regularly in almost all major music centers in Europe, Latin America, North America, Australia and the Far East. After its founding by violinist Wolfgang Redik, cellist Marcus Trefny and pianist Stefan Mendl in 1988 early, extensive studies allowed for renowned musicians an early start of an international career. Among the most important teachers and mentors of the ensemble included Isaac Stern, Ralph Kirschbaum, Joseph Kalichstein and the members of the Trio di Trieste, the Beaux Arts Trio, the Guarneri Quartet and the Lasalle. Since the summer of 2001, Matthias Gredler has assumed the position of the cellist in the Vienna Piano Trio. Since 2012 Bogdan Bozovic violinist of the Vienna Piano Trio.
In addition to regular appearances at music festivals such as the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, the festival “Aix en Provence”, the Salzburg Mozart Festival, the Beethoven days Bonn, or the Chamber Music Festival in Kuhmo / Finland and the festivals in Ottawa, Toronto and Lanaudiere, the ensemble has performed on extended tours music in cities such as London, Paris, New York, Buenos Aires, Bogota, Toronto, Montreal, Mexico City, Tokyo, Sydney, Brussels, Barcelona and Berlin. From 1997 to 2006, the Vienna Piano Trio designed for `the Jeunesse Musicale one cycle at the Vienna Musikverein. Beethoven’s “Triple Concerto” was performed with many major orchestras, including the Orchestre Philharmonique Belgique, the English Chamber Orchestra, Capella Istropolitana, Orchestre Metropolitain de Montreal and the Munich Chamber Orchestra.
