2012-2013 Young Artists Academy
The Austin Chamber Music Academy provides small ensemble opportunities during the fall and spring semesters. Professional musicians coach chamber ensembles and teach theory and composition classes for intermediate and advanced musicians of all ages. All instruments are welcome to participate; however, we do ask that students have at least a year of private instruction before enrolling.
Participants experience the joys of studying and performing chamber music with enthusiastic musicians of comparable proficiency. As an indispensable member of an ensemble, you will make new friends as you improve your sense of rhythm, musical confidence, intonation, and performance skills.
Students may sign up for:
1 chamber ensemble & theory (2 hour commitment)
OR
2 chamber ensembles & theory (3 hour commitment)

Placement Auditions
Placement auditions will take place on Saturday, August 25 (Fall Semester) and Saturday, January 12 (Spring Semester) at the Armstrong Community Music School.
Audition Material:
Students will be asked to prepare 2 contrasting solos/etudes of their choice (1 slow and musical / 1 faster and technical). Portions of piece or movements are fine. Both selections should be approximately 1 minute in length. Students will also be asked to do some sight reading.

Please note that you should either pay the deposit or full tuition…NOT both when registering! Tuition balances will be due the first day of the Academy semester you are enrolling.
No tuition refunds will be given after the 1st Saturday of Academy for each semester – deposits are non-refundable. Any refunds requested will be subject to a $20 fee.
